Tangier, Morocco – In the early hours of Friday, June 27, 2025, the Tangier judicial police successfully dismantled a dangerous criminal gang composed of four individuals suspected of involvement in fraud, armed robbery, and cocaine trafficking.
Crypto Scam Turns into Armed Assault
According to a reliable security source, the suspects lured a victim through social media platforms, pretending to arrange a major cryptocurrency transaction. Once trust was established, they invited the victim to a meeting spot under the pretense of finalizing the deal.
The victim was forcibly taken into a car and driven to a remote area on the outskirts of Tangier, where he was threatened with bladed weapons and robbed of a substantial sum of money and personal belongings.
Swift Arrests and Seizures
Following the complaint, security forces launched an immediate investigation that led to the identification and arrest of all four suspects in record time. A search operation uncovered:
- The vehicle used in the kidnapping
- Bladed weapons and suspicious mobile phones
- Two digital scales and a quantity of cocaine
- A partial recovery of the stolen cash
All suspects have been placed in custody pending further investigation, under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office. Authorities are now working to uncover the full extent of the gang’s criminal activities and possible links at the local or national level.
